Serious Thoughts

I'm sure most people should have known about the recent incident at NTU where a student stabbed his professor before committing suicide. Upon receiving the news, i was disturbed and kept wondering what is the reason behind such act? Perhaps more than my emotions generated for this piece of news, i was more aghast at the attitude some people have towards this incident. It was a tragedy, a tragedy reflecting the ever-rising pressure of the present society, the increasing psychological disorder among people. This incident ought to jerk us out of our comfort zone to be more aware of what is happening around us as well as inside us. What shocked me the most was that some people could still make it into a joke. Some lamented that the student ought to stab and make sure the prof is dead. Some said that he should jump off from a higher storey. I mean what was that!??! Someone tried to MURDER and then KILL HIMSELF? Has death become such funny thing to joke about? What if the student is your close friend? What if the professor is your uncle? Even if its someone i don't know, i don't suppose it is a very funny and frivolous matter to laugh over.

To me, the response of these people surprised me more than the incident itself. We are becoming less and less like human...
