Break Break Break

YEAH! A few days of break before i settle down for my Chinese paper and Art Philo paper on the 5th and 7th of December. Yes Yes.... some of you NUS guys out there must be mocking at the dates of my exams to be so late. Haha... but it is a good thing for me, to have my exams spaced out so that i can find time to study in between the breaks. Oh well... let's just stop talking about academic stuff, invokes a sense of nausea within me.

Less than 2 weeks to New Zealand.
Frankly speaking, i'm not the least gaga excited over the trip. I do admit i used to be really excited over this climbing trip, but i've since changed my mind. I do not know why i even agreed to go for this trip, at the price of a huge chunk off my bank account somemore. Is it worth that much for this trip? i'm beginning to want to beg to differ. Let's just say some unhappy things happened and i'm still struggling really hard to reconcile it within myself.

Went for a swim today at Queenstown swimming complex. I felt so awkward swimming in the pool. They were having some kind of swimming test for the kids so half of the pool was condoned off for the test. There i was, swimming at the other half of the pool with this other guy. Now, why did i feel so awkward then? You see, these kids taking the test do have their parents looking at them on the shore. So i had a rough estimate of 20 plus adults staring into the pool on the shore. I couldn't swim for more than half an hour before i left the pool to continue my errands for the day.

I got back my spoilt camera from Canon HQ in Harbourfront today. YEAH!! No more wordy posts from me anymore. (i have to clarify the 'no more' is just an expression of a lower frequency and not that of complete ceasure)

For now, let me just take a break... a pity i don't really fancy Kit Kat that much.

exam blues

2 papers down... 3 more to go.

Today's state of taking my examination was really bad. I reached the exam hall just in time with everyone looking at me walking down the aisle to my seat. I endured the 2 hours with 'enemies at the gates'. (which means gek sai) My lecturer was not helpful by standing behind me watching me write my answers (gave me unnecessary stress). At one point of time, she actually put her head near to my question paper to see my draft and kind of gave a 'hmmm'. WAH!!! Of all students why ME!?!?! Probably she likes me i guess... hmmm... hahaha.

Oh well... shall stop talking about the paper.

Although i'll be leaving for NZ in just less than 2 weeks time, i seem to have lost the initial excitement for the trip. I figured the exam stress must've killed them all. Sigh... so sad. But oh well... what to do?

I LUV CLIMO

My most productive day of the week. Oh gosh... i'm typing this blog with my eyes half-opened/half-closed and i seriously need a nap after this. zzZZzz. Started the day with a close to 2 hour swim, met jasper, his friend Evan, as well as sean and ronald later on towards noontime. After lunch at YIH, it was time to study study study. Yeap. Started on my climate and boy was i so powered up to study after a can of Nescafe hahaha. It did help that i love climatology and i really enjoyed studying it. Hee. Joined by Rosie and her friend, as well as Yibin later on during the day. Ok... so i guess i won't be putting in too much details on what i've studied for fear of boring myself out.

Die... Saturday exam and i'm still blogging... aiyoh aiyoh what's wrong with me

Pain Pain Pain

trekking boots... 270 bucks
thermal socks ... 30 bucks
heart pain... pain pain pain
pocket burnt... super chao tah

contracted the disease from yibin. Argh... shared kway chap with him this morning for breakfast and i had to face the consequences. Sigh... woke up from my afternoon nap feeling really giddy and dizzy, almost fainted on the way to Clementi SPorts Hall for badminton. But miraculously, i got well after my badminton... seems like exercise does have the power to heal. Hahaha.

went to school today to study. Didnt know central library was so super crowded. Switched my venue after lunch with yitsin, wenshui and daida. As to where i've switched... i won't tell for fear my favourite spot gets chopped tmr. Hahaha.

Went to get my camera fixed in the late afternoon at Harbourfront. i can finally take some decent photos once i get my cam back next week. Yippee... that will be the end of the long boring black and white (sometimes coloured) all-word-no-pictures post that i've been torturing you readers with for the last few weeks or so. hahaha.

ok... =)

1 Day to 4th Blogging Anniversary!

just found out that my first blog entry (my previous blog) was on 19 November 2002 which makes tomorrow my 4th BLOGGING ANNIVERSARY! Yeah! 4 years of my life down in this virtual reality... sounds kinda funny and freaky at the same time. But seriously, looking back at my posts in the past, i realised i did change alot. Hmmm... alright... shall not get into a mushy cushy mood now. Haha.
A Happy 4th Anniversary to my BLOG!
HIP HIP HURRAY!

Interesting Facts

The Bukit Timah Nature Reserve in Singapore contains more species of trees than the entire North American continent
[wah...i find it pretty hard to believe it at first. However, after realising the vast biodiversity of tropical rainforest as compared to the temperate regions, this comes as no surprise.]

The highest natural point in Singapore is Bukit Timah Hill, which is only 164 metres high (Singapore has a very flat terrain)
[People have often asked me what is the height of Bukit Timah Hill and i always give them a wrong estimate. Haha... i tend to put it at 300 m, and i guess my estimation skill leaves much to be desired and trusted.]

Vivocity is not a city
[HAHAHA... i cooked this up myself =P]

ExPeN$iVe $iAh

Spent the whole morning and afternoon mugging. Yes that's right... i was mugging the whole day while entertaining myself with the unpredictable weather outside my window. *sniff* i really hope the exams will be over real soon.

Anyway, went down to Queensway with aik keong to get our shades done. Bought this really cool adidas shades with degree at 330 bucks. oh gosh... that's really expen$ive but i really need to use it up in the mountains. He got the same model as me, but of a different colour. Yeap... for a moment i felt like a vainpot hahaha.

Peninsula Plaza was next (didn't find much stuff to buy) and was appalled that Campus Corner closes so early for the day. Oh well... seems like i could only buy my desired trekking shoes on Sunday then... sigh... this trip is so expen$ive.

Oh...bought myself a pair of trekking pants at Jurong point. Pretty pleased with the purchase. After much calculation, i'm left with a budget of 600 bucks for a fleece top, trekking shoes, gloves, beanie etc. Gosh... i don't know how i'm going to make it but i guess if there's a will, there's a way.

Watched 'the guardian' again with aik keong, yibin, huijun and jas at jurong point. Frankly speaking, i wouldn't mind watching it again for the 3rd time. I think it was a very thought-provoking, emotion-stirring show that is worth re-watching. Although many people complained about the length of the film, i think it is pretty short and could be longer and more 'comprehensive' in its plot. Ok... everyone is entitled to his opinion, you can disagree with me. =)

For now, let me just take a rest and continue to mug tmr. *yawnz*

Yong Tau Foo

From today 0nwards, I will definitely boycott the Yong Tau Foo stall in Engine Canteen also known as Techno Edge. I was having lunch with Yibin yesterday when I scooped out a lizard shit from the yong tau foo i was digging in. OH YUCKS! It was this small oval black thingy with a tinge of white 'icing'. Gross stuff... how gross was that???!!! And worse still, i only realised it after i kind of finished 3/4 of the yong tau foo. ARGH!! EEKS... i could imagine what that lizard had for lunch... flies, wasps, bugs... eeeeks. And i remembered my mum telling me someone died from eating lizard droppings accidentally. Immediately i prayed hard that i will not suffer food poisoning or whatsoever. Thank God i'm still safe and sound, alive and kicking. But seriously the hygiene of the stall is totally atrocious. So for the sake of your health, it would be best to be more careful in what you eat. You might have a few spiders swimming in your stomach now... who knows?

In fact yesterday i was pretty shagged out the whole day. Woke up very early and went for a morning swim before attending a super boring lecture. *yawn* But i took the afternoon off accompanying Reuben (a Dutch exchange student) to tour Labrador Park and Vivocity. When i reached home, i totally zonked out till the next morning.

"Pls pay attention and you can think about your assasination plots later on"
That's my geog lecturer (cities in transition) starting the lecture suaning the S'pore govt for housing a war criminal in NUS today. Hahaha. Apparently my British lecturer doesn't like Bushy very much. Hee hee...

Anyway, guess what? i had yong tau foo for lunch yesterday, yong tau foo for dinner yesterday, yong tau foo for breakfast today, and yong tau foo for lunch too. 4 meals of yong tau foo consecutively. You know Yong tau foo is one of my favourite food, and my image of yong tau foo was totally distorted by engine fac. So in my bid to salvage whatever's left of this good image, i've decided to eat more good yong tau foo... and Arts fac Yong tau foo saved the day. Sigh... so sad the canteen will be closed for renovation.

Alright...shall go for a quick napzzZZzz

EXAMS!!

Preparation for the exams as well as for the upcoming alpine climbing course has taken a toil on me. Not only must i study for my papers, i need to exercise regularly to be physically prepared for the course. Aiyoh... a real test to my time management which wasn't that great to start with in the first place.

Yibin will be leaving for US for at least 4 months. Sigh... i think i will miss him dearly. But i'm sure God does has His plans for him and i do hope after these 4 months he will come back as a stronger brother in faith. Well, maybe it's time to think of what farewell gift i could give him. Haha...but only for 4 months... pretty ridiculous to think like he's leaving for 4 years. hee hee.

Think God has been so gracious. Didn't really put that much effort in my essays and yet i did not suffer great casualties in the marks. That being said, i really ought to put in more effort to study for the paper. Goodness... and here i am still blogging away... wasting precious time.

Ok...i better go... tata

Oh Gosh... So Paiseh

I made so many bloopers today. Goodness. First was that i realised i did not zip my flys when i went to the toilet. The worst thing was that it was in the afternoon... which means i had my flys open for practically since morning. OH GOSH! And NO ONE came up to me to tell me that i had my pants undone... i do hope no one noticed that... eeeeks...so paiseh

Second was while making my way to the AS7 Cluster from Arts Canteen. Due to the torrential afternoon rain, i decided to take a sheltered path to the cluster. WHen i entered the Lang dept, finding the stairway to get down one level, instead of pushing the stairway door, i ended up pushing the door of the female toilet instead. OH GOSH!! In front of so many students somemore. Wah... goodness i noticed the female toilet sign in time to make any stupid moves and i just had to walk off pretending nothing has happened. oh gosh...so paiseh...

I don't know if i should say this but i really had an enjoyable geog lecture listening to the lecturer mocking Dr Mahathir on his pet project Multimedia SuperCorridor. Hahaha...it was so funny. I don't think i would want to go into the details for fear some Mahathir fan will find this blog and make it big in Msia's press and we shall have a good time watching the diplomatic dramamama on TV Mobile. Really ought to capture it in video and post it on Youtube. Hahaha... Alright... better go mug... yes...mug!

A Reminder

When your good is evil spoken of, when your wishes are crossed, your advice disregarded, your opinions ridiculed and you refuse to let anger rise in your heart, or even defend yourself, but take it all in patient loving silence --- that is dying to self.

Reflections

I don't know whether this is right, but i'm more often mesmerised by the pianist's manouvre of his fingers over the piano than the music of the piece itself. Haha... talking about the appreciation of art... i think i'm more geared towards watching a circus show. But of cos i cannot deny the fact that if the pianist's 'skill' is good but the piece came out like scratching fingernails on the blackboard, that will just totally kill off all possible aesthetic value left in the performance... along with the manouvres. You guys must be kinda curious why i am typing this... well... let's just say that i kinda had a small preview of Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann etc yesterday and i was pretty swept away by the pianist. As to who the pianist was?... hmmm... i shan't tell for fear his pride swells. (wow it rhymes!!)

It was a foodfare at Huijun's place yesterday. Huijun's Hainanese chicken rice and Lotus root soup, Xiangmei's stewed beef and Gingko Barley, Jasmin's Asam Fish as well as Wanxin's Old Chang Kee and Moses' vege. That was super filling. After that, i was so glad that i did not puke while playing badminton. Haha... could feel the rumbling and tumbling inside my stomach. But i spent most of the time playing table-tennis.... and i really think my skills are improving tremendously. Hahaha... Huiying can vouch for that for i always ended up smashing the ball onto people than smashing the ball onto the table. hahaha...

I couldn't believe it... i reached home at about 3 am this morning. I was just at my brother's house watching 'The Patriot' and he lives just a few metres away from me. That was a wrong move... totally forgot i have a project presentation to do and there i was watching 'the Patriot'. Geez... i better start reflecting upon myself.

I'm currently at the bench outside LT 10 and 9 (yeah... the toilets smell terrific) typing this blog entry while touching up my project presentation. *yawn* so tired... it's going to be another long day today.

Hee Hoo

I could only say that the past week has been projects, assignment and more projects. Not that i want to complain (though i'm super tempted to... haha), but i couldn't wait for the semester to end so that i could breathe once again. Haha.

Looking at my schedule forecast over the next few days, pretty... erhem... overwhelming. Well, i firmly believe God's grace is more than sufficient to sustain me throughout as long as I do my part in glorifying Him in whatever I do.

Have a project presentation on 'Music' this Thursday. Oh gosh... hahaha... i'm getting mad.... lunatic... woohoo!!
