I really wonder if it is a S'pore phenomenon or just some isolated cases, but old people really have no basic courtesy in the bus. They love to chop the whole double seat for themselves and would give a frown or a look of disgust when someone (needy) wants to take the window seat. They really love to pamper their umbrellas... offering their beloved umbrellas one whole seat to itself. Goodness... I mean alright you guys did contribute to nation building and all, and we need to give you guys credit for that. However, when you see your own kind with a walking stick climbing up the crowded bus, don't you have even the slightest compassion to offer your umbrella's seat to him/her. These old peeps seriously lack empathy.
And i saw this old man today wif the most horrendous hairdo i've ever seen. To make it clear, if i ever need Yunnan, i would rather keep a clean shave man. It is totally revolting to try to cover the African Plain with a few strands of maggi mee. Let me illustrate the very bad point of having such hairdo.
This is a normal "try to cover my Plain" hairdo
This is wat happened when one of the strands went out of place. Totally revolting. Eyesore... yucks
i happened to chance upon this truck carrying this advertisment "Mediacorp - The Choice."
what choice? aren't all our TV Channels from Channel U to Suria under Mediacorp?
So let's just say you bring in the cable TV and put Mediacorp alongside with AXN, Discovery etc. C'mon, the only reason why you subscribe for cable TV is bcos you're sick of Mediacorp. Ain't I right?
They need to change that statement... "Mediacorp - No Choice"
I had a really traumatic experience last night. I went for a jog around my neighbourhood and halfway at the private housing estate, i almost blacked out. I was forced to sit down by the curb to recover after seeing stars all around me. For a moment i was like thinking "That's it... someone pls call the ambulance." But the problem was... there was no one around at all. Thank God i did make it back home safe and sound with my superhuman determination and sheer extraordinary mental power.
Went swimming this morning, and the same thing happened again. Due to last nite's experience, i told myself NOT to over exert just in case history repeats itself again. TO think this ANG MOH pregnant lady (yes her stomach was freaking huge... i was kinda worried she'll give birth in the pool) was swimming at a speed juz a teeny bit slower than me. OH GOSH...
Lesson learnt: Don't do strenuous exercises after u donate ur blood...
Oh gee, i supposed i would have to throw some clothes out of my wardrobe cos they look too gay. One of my friend (Eric) back in Taiwan commented on some of my apparels will bring a lot of gay attention on me if i walk along Ann Siang Hill at night. Gee... that's a pretty scary thought. Imagine a bunny being eaten by a pack of wolves... that sounds a bit kinky though. Haha.
I had a hard time shopping for clothes I like here in Singapore. Gee... i probably have to make my way down Orchard soon. And gosh!! How can I forget i no longer am forced by the government to earn that measly sum of money which hardly is able to quench my ferocious appetite. *sniff* shopping has to be put on halt.
Have to sleep now... gonna get my pink ic tmr... suddenly ORD doesn't seemed so great to me... gonna be officially unemployed. sigh
Went down to Changi Airport this afternoon to welcome Elton back from Taiwan. I couldn't believe i actually stood all the way from Buona Vista to Tanah Merah. Has the population in S'pore increased tremendously since i was gone for 9 mths or was i juz my luck? I couldn't be bothered. Halfway, to my horror, i couldn't remember which terminal was he arriving, which plane was he getting off, what time was his flight landing... oh man... i was so in deep *^^(&.
But of cos, being such a smartie, i was confident of finding my way out. When i reached Changi Airport, i saw a familiar sillouette of someone walking briskly in front of me like he's catching a flight. Oh.. it's Lik Man. Oh man... in a jiffy, he was gone. To think catching a Raikou in Pokemon Crystal is so much easier than saying a hi to him. Aniwae, i managed to find a SQ flight arriving from KHH @ 1602. Great... and i was right.
Was pleasantly surprised to find Jackson and Ah Choy there too. After Elton made his way out of the Arrival hall, the 3 of us went to Newton to have our dinner. This was followed by sending Elton and his luggage home in Outram, and of cos my luggage from his luggage back to my home in Holland. Haha... confused?
After that, J E n I set off to Tanjung Pagar to booze. Not wanting to booze so heavily, i bought a sissy raspberry bacardi. Haha... i know i know... sparkling fruit juice for woosies. We spent our time boozing at Sago Lane... This was followed by suppering at the nearby Maxwell Mkt.
Oh man... it's so great to meet up friends back from taiwan... Ah Dong... i'm awaiting for ur arrival... =) WALA WALA!!!
Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to Monke..i mean Zhirong, Happy Birthday to you.
Had a gathering at Timbres just now. In case you guys do not know where it is, it's just beside the busstop at the old National Library. I was also surprised to see the new SMU campus opened. Oh man, Singapore does change alot over short period of time. Scary...
Haven't meet up with the guys for so long... The feeling of seeing them the first time since 'donkey years' ago was kinda weird. It felt like i've missed out on so many things. But i heaved a sigh of relief when i see some people just wouldn't change... not even 20 years down the road i guess. Haha.
However during the gathering, i couldn't help but to have flashbacks of my memories in taiwan. My close pals, my kah kees... how we work, suffer and enjoy together. For a moment, i really thought listening to Blues would fit the atmosphere really well. Oh man... i really gotta get over it... i'm back in s'pore for good. This will be the place i'm stuck in for at least the next 10 yrs or so. I'd better wake up my idea and start loving this mud on my face.
btw, thank u guys for the cake... and to the band (i can't rem ur name juz like u can't rem mine) for their songs dedicated to Zhirong and I
Oh man... realli tired... gonna turn in early... zzzzzz
finally... i complained that Teh-O to HQ AMS. However i could not follow-up cos i will be ORDing very soon. Shall see what could be done to that Teh-O
And i really hate signing ORD clearance form. It's like my first time seeing them face to face will be my last time. Haha... kind of weird... like how we were in the same unit, but never actually knew each other.
Thank goodness my stomach flu was gone. I discovered it after eating my wanton noodles in camp today... and i didn't puke. WOOHOO!! FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD!!! HERE I COME!!!
on a side note... i really do miss taiwan and thanx weisheng for ur message... do miss ya guys alot. think KTV will nvr be the same without u guys around...
was diagnosed to have stomach flu by the doctor. Spent the whole day resting in bed, and puking in the toilet. (NOTE: this time round i really puked) Must be the fact that i still could not get used to the food in S'pore.
sigh... i really miss all my friends back in taiwan. Am so eager for them to come back to s'pore soon. But i knew for a few of them, we wouldn't be able to meet up that often liao. sigh... really sad...
It's not that i want to leave in desperation. It's not that i've started to turn cold towards you guys. It's just that i know if i have stayed a bit longer to bid farewell, tears will start rolling down my cheeks. Memories kept flashing in my mind as I was travelling the ever-so-familiar road to KHH. As hard as i tried my best to control my emotions, i could not prevent myself from dropping a tear. Life has to move on... i better stop before things get a bit too mushy to bear.
Birthday, EOT and ORD all happening in the same month. things were going a bit too fast for me...
I really would like to thank my friends in HQ and MTL to organise a small simple party for me last nite. Felt really paiseh that even Chief Clerk himself chipped in for the whole event. *red face*
My heartfelt thanks to: - the HQ peeps: 2WO GOH (Happy EOT), Chief, Dawson (ur arm disgusts me), David and Gene. - the MTL peeps: 2WO Peh and 2WO Ang, Jona Phan (Thx 4 the vid), Nic (wat happened to ur gymming schedule?), Don (ur foot disgusts me), Phong, Foo and Jazz. - my medical family Dr Leonard (thx for ur present, i will listen to it asap) and Ben (thx so much for organising all this)
i love the cake... thank you all... and i'm 21 liao so old... sigh
My last recreational trip up KHH... Couldn't believe that i actually rented a Toyota Camry 2.0L really not used to driving such a big car as compared to my usual taste of Altis
Our first stop was to fill our empty growling stomach. Liu He Night Mkt!! We had sushi and sashimi at one of the roadside store... The strawberry milkshake was fantastic...
Karaoke at Partyworld was next. So funny... Weisheng sang until hiccups... Eric sang until lose voice... only i left standing... hee hee
After resting at the hotel, we carried on to shop. YIPPEE!! i bought this realli cute luggage... it's limited edition... and it'z pretty pricely too.
*will post pic up soon*
Dinner was FANTASTIC! cheap and good. We went to this restaurant (fine-dining) called Bei Hai Dao. Food is good... service is good... interior atmosphere is good... everything is good.
oh... how could i forget the no. 35 at the massage parlour. "wo de xia ban bu hen suan!" HAHAHAHAHA
Tonight there will be an EOT function for MTL at the mess. I can foresee many people will be high with lotsa alcohol content in their bloodstream. Do hope my reason of "i have to drive up to KHH later" will save me. *cross finger*
I've always desired to have a great 21st birthday bash. 21 years old is such a significant stage of one's life, to cross over to the phase of adulthood. The age where young adults will possess the 'key' to open the door to the world outside... But it seems like my long-awaited once in a lifetime 21st birthday bash will never materialise... it's like a childhood wish shattered into pieces.
I'm still trying to get to terms with myself. O C'mon, it's only a birthday... no big deal.
But it's my 21st birthday!!! a freaking big deal if you ask anyone. oh well... what to do? Stupid Assholic Fool has destroyed this childhood dream of mine. I know i'm not supposed to hate anyone... but... argh.... sorry for my ranting
My name is not on this month's duty list. My Leave/Off forecast for March is either 'L' or 'X' all the way till 21st I no longer set my alarm clock at night i miss my breakfast in the morning as i always wake up late i go to gym and run as and when i want to i no longer fear anyone in the camp (especially Teh-O) *the list continues...*
I always thought i'll be really excited over ORD. THat doesn't seem to be the case. It seems more like "Ok, i'm gonna ORD... so?" kind of feeling. I can still vividly remember my BMT days in H****N Camp... how ORD seemed so far. Couldn't believe that in less than a mth's time, i'll be collecting my PINK ic.
Frankly speaking, life after ORD is in a flurry state for me. I had not think about how i'm going to spend the 4 months before Uni starts. Should i find a job? (i most probably should) should i go backpacking? (i reasoned out i wouldn't haf time after this break) should i prepare myself for the next phase of my life? (grow a goatee or something... change image?) The influx of question marks and cloudy thoughts in my mind are kind of driving me nuts. *KABOOM* slammed them into a locked cabinet somewhere in my brain. i'll release them when i haf the capacity to think thoroughly.... after i get my pink ic.
I really would like to stay on longer... but i know that IT IS TIME TO MOVE ON. No matter how much one likes his present state of life, he should not or cannot be in that state forever. There will always be the time when one must move on, whether he likes it or not. It's time... It's time...
It's time to learn and try very very hard to love S'pore again... sigh...
Overview of how we got there 1. An hour's bus ride from Heng Chun to Fang Liao 2. 2 hour's train ride from Fang Liao to Tai Tung 3. A 20 minutes cab ride from Tai Tung train station to Fu Gang Jetty 4. An hour's rough boat ride from Fu Gang Jetty to Green Island 5. A 10-15 minute bike ride from jetty to 民宿.
and vice-versa back...
That's the five of us at the train station. Alvin, me, Dawson, CKS and Adrian
Treacherous boat ride It was no joke crossing the pacific ocean. It was one of the roughest boat ride i've ever taken till now. Spending 5 years of my life canoeing did help after all in my resistance to sea-sickness. The boat was practically tossed about uncontrollably in the ocean... and to be against the current did not make things any better. i was so glad when we finally did reach the island. Trust me... you would too.
Dawson and I on board the craft
SCOOTER My parents are so going to kill me if they knew i ride scooter here in taiwan. But of cos i would never want to ride a bike bcos it really is so dangerous. H/w it was fun. hee hee. When we reached the jetty, our guide brought us to a scooter rental nearby and we took one each. Then we followed the guide all the way to our min su. Apparently we were the only occupants then, having a queen-size bed of our own.
Our 民宿
Snorkelling After a quick lunch at the local 7-11 (which only operates half a year), we proceed on to snorkelling at a nearby protected coral reef reserve. Pardon me for being a 山龜 but i've never seen so much colourful fishes and spectacular reefs in my entire life. The water was so clear too. The thought of being in the Pacific Ocean is just so cool. Really one experience i will never forget. By the way, the water was freezing cold... the waves were pretty strong... they kinda make the experience even more unforgettable. HAHA.
Ride to 朝曰溫泉 The Pacific coastline was amazing. Took a few shots halfway during our ride to the hotspring.
朝日海水溫泉 HOTSPRING There are only 2 seawater hotsprings in the world. One is in Taiwan (Green Island), the other is in Italy. It was soooooo comfy and fantastic. The only downside was that the open pools were not opened due to the rough sea and rising tide or else it would've been splendid. We alternate between the indoor hot pool and the outdoor cold pool until we made a decision to stay outside due to the superb view. It was like you are enjoying the pool and at the same time savouring the fantastic pacific coastline... i felt like i was in Travel and Living channel. hoho.
Sunset After the hotspring which got us refreshed and invigorated, we decided to climb up the hill (which is just next to the spring) to view the sunset. I was pleasantly surprised to see the green meadowfield on top of a hill. For a moment... i felt so small. Not far away, a herd of mountain goats were grazing, oblivious to our presence. A desolated fort tower by the cliff gave the place a pinch of historical touch. It was a spectacular sunset... =)
Can u spot the goats in this photo?
Sunset...
After dinner (we had mutton steamboat), the tour guide took us around the island. He brought us to this spot and when we lifted our heads to the sky, it was a magnificent display of the constellations. FOr a moment i thought he was an astronomer cos he pointed out to us every constellations there were up there including the planets. I could even see the galaxy... and of cos shooting stars. Got 2 that night. =)
Next we went deer spotting. It really did amazed me there were so many deers on Green Island. I was too astonished that our tour guide does possess such powerful night sight to spot them out in the dark. cool.
Our final destination was outside the prison where the guide told us some horror stories about this particular place nearby. It was a 'dirty' place and i soon realised in my own experience that what he said was true. After that we went back to take a rest, to prepare ourselves for an early morning sunrise.
Sunrise It's really a pity that we did not get a chance to see the sunrise as a cold front covered the whole of taiwan that day. We woke up at 0500 and rode the scooter (braved the chilling wind)to the hotspring. After an hour's wait or so, we decided to abort the idea as the sky was gloomy and the cold was becoming unbearable.
Shivering in the cold waiting for sunrise
Sky was overcast... had to abort the wait
Some pics of the Pacific Coastline on our way to the nearest town in the morning.
The nearest town...
Prison Lyu Dao used to house political criminals from 1960s to 1987. We visited the prison and had a lesson on the political history of Taiwan. One could see a lot of anti-communism wordings and drawings around the camp... sort of like a concentration camp where they brainwash you. Just to tell you guys i'm pro-communism. However, i'm only pro-ideal, not the practicality of it in the world today (also due to the fallacy of human nature).
This is Guan Yin Cave. There is a rock which resembles Guan Yin here.
Can u spot a pig, a fish and Goddess of Mercy here?
Can u spot a frog, an old man, and an owl here?
Fu Gang Pier, where we took a boat back to mainland Taiwan. It was a fantastic trip. So sad it has to end so fast... =S
