The Snake

Have you guys ever wondered how come all ambulances (be it S'pore or even the States and Canada) have this insignia of a serpent?

The snake has traditionally been associated with the art and science of medicine. Its origin can be traced to ancient Greece where temples devoted to worshipping the god of medicine, Aesculapius (Asclepios, abounded. Aesculapius was the god of medicine. Born a mortal, he became so skilled in the art of medicine that he was able to raise the dead. For this Zeus slew him with a thunderbolt. Sometime after his death, at the command of the Moirai (Fates), Aesculapius was returned from Hades and apotheosized into a god. He was depicted as a bearded man bearing a serpent-entwined staff. These temples served also as hospitals and in each was to be found a circular pit containing a snake. Retrieved by coiling the serpent from around a wooden rod, it was believed that applying the snake's forked tongue to the diseased body brought about healing.

I'M BACK!!

Geez, after 3 weeks of my Taiwan adventure, i am so glad to be back here in Singapore. And mine mine is it hot here. Kinda missed the dry and cold weather back in Taipei. Touched down at around 0200 and forked out a whopping 28 bucks for the taxi trip back home. *Ouch* that's pretty expensive. can't imagine how much the fare will be if i stay in Jurong... =S

It has been a memorable experience for me, except for once when i accidentally deleted all my nice photos from my cam... *ouch* that hurts more than the 28 bucks. thus sorry folks... not much photos available. Made a couple of friends both with the cdos, the support staff, the trainees (those who kana sickbay one especially) and the locals. By the grace of God i met this Christian bro who's from Sth Africa, who came here to teach. We had a wonderful sharing that night... took a photo with him which i did deleted it out of folly. Argh... that's my most precious photo of them all... sigh...

oh well...shall share my experience in Taiwan some other time. Too lazy to type them out. heh... =P
